On a visit to his elderly mother in March 2020 and with lockdown suddenly announced, Gregory Dunn had no choice but to stay in Deal for the next four months. The Irish based photographer took full advantage of the opportunity to revisit the childhood home of his past and record a personal memoir. Peppered with fascinating snippets, this is not ‘just’ a photo book. His often quirky viewpoint extends beyond the photos into the accompanying narrative, informing and educating the reader of obscure facts they may not hitherto have known.
The book even contains a new specially commissioned typeface, Type-13, based on the lettering found on Deal’s iconic railway signalbox.
The foreword was written by the late musician Cathal Coughlan.
