Oxfam shops have a long tradition of selling second-hand books and we receive lots of generous donations. There is a massive range in the value of the books we handle: from paperback novels which sell for a few pounds to valuable collectible items which may sell for thousands of pounds. Our teams of book volunteers ensure all donations are sold for the best price possible, so that we can continue to support Oxfam's work.

A number of our shops also sell books through our online shop and therefore in addition to working in our high street shops, some shops may have vacancies for volunteers keen to develop this area of work.

Want to volunteer?

Whatever your skills or interests, there’s something for everyone…

We have a range of standard roles and some more specialist roles. We like to give volunteers an opportunity to try a range of areas before they find something that suits them.

No experience needed. When you apply the manager will ask you to come in for an initial chat, this is not an interview, just a chance to get an idea of what you'd like to do in the shop. From there you can meet the rest of the volunteer team and get involved with whatever area of the shop takes your interest.

Volunteering at Oxfam is the perfect way to gain new skills, whether you're looking to improve your CV, take on a new challenge or just have fun!
