Dementia Twiddle Muffs

Facebook group Calm Cuffs are a group of local mums making twiddle muffs for dementia patients.

Calm cuffs, also known as activity mitts or twiddle mitts are knitted or crocheted bands using different textures and added extras. A patient living with dementia can twiddle with the mitts during times of anxiety, the mitts help to provide stimulation during hospital stays and are valuable to dementia patients.

Made by a small group of crocheting mums that meet weekly, they are looking to make and provide mitts within our local area. They are looking for donations of wool, buttons, ribbons, fabric scraps, bells, beads, keyring and pom poms to help in their mission.

If you have some spare time you can donate and can knit or crochet, they are desperate for extra helpers to make some cuffs and say that you don’t need to attach anything to them.
