Deal to Sholden Cycle Path

Posted on Mar 4, 2015

For years the Deal & Dover District Cycle Forum have been pressing for a decent off-road cycle path as an alternative way between Deal Town Centre, Sholden and Fowlmead – one that families would feel is safe to cycle.

The suggested cycle path would run from Albert Rd level crossing, through what’s now fields, to Church Lane Sholden and Southwall Road via the Park Road Motors land which is shortly to be developed. It could form a much-needed “missing link” in the route for cycling between Deal town and Fowlmead country park, avoiding residential roads with lorries and lots of parked cars.

Now developers for the Park Road Motors land, Quinn Estates, have put forward their options for the site which include a children’s nursery and a small supermarket – and they’re asking for your comments and preferred option at a consultation exhibition in Deal Town Hall on Wednesday 4th March 2015.

Pop in any time between 3pm and 7.30pm and make sure that they are made aware that this cycle route is important to lots of local cyclists.

See the Cycle Forum website for more details and a map:

It’s important to get it right, so please look at the details – would this be a good route for cyclists?

See how it could fit in to the 2008 District Cycle Plan.
