Now a new book by a local author, published this week, Dogs for Deal, celebrates some of the memorable dogs often seen in its pubs, shops and cafes. On sale in Dunlin & Diver, Mileage and Roper's, a percentage of any profits will be donated to local charity Futures for Dogs.

Facebook group Calm Cuffs are a group of local mums making twiddle muffs for dementia patients. Calm cuffs, also known as activity mitts or twiddle mitts are knitted or crocheted bands using different textures and added extras. A patient living with dementia can twiddle with the mitts during times of anxiety, the mitts help to provide stimulation during hospital stays and are valuable to dementia patients.
